Goodbye Boys

Ok, now I'm sure you guys have heard of this "straight-to-VCD" feature film by Bernard Chauly, who is also the person behind the success of "Gol & Gincu"[Goal & Lipstick]. Or at least you seen the Rexona dramamercials on TV. Right? So I got to see it as soon as the VCD hit the shelves last week. (It pays to have a friend working in a licensed VCD outlet..hehe).
Contrary to "Gol & Gincu" which is about Girls and Futsal, "Goodbye Boys" is about 8 Form Five Ipoh boys on a 100km hike on a grueling 5-day journey through the Kinta Valley to fulfill a King Scouts requirement.
So what can happen in a film about 8 boys on a 100km Scout Hike you ask?
A lot actually...especially when we're talking about 8 different boys with 8 different characters.
There's Ivan, the idealist who does everything by the book. Then there's Glenn, the silent leader of the troup.

Then there's Jin, the popular guy who always gets the girl.
Funny guy, Aris, the joker of the group and Jin's "not-so-popular" sidekick.
Then we have Leonard and Wei Heen- I constantly get confused between the two of them.

Can you guys blame me? Both oso wanna pose with bagpacks. =)
Then there's Aaron, the only one who actually brought notes and did any studying during the 5 days. (They are Form 5 students with SPM around the corner so can you blame him?)
And finally, Xiao, who was just there.
Eight boys with eight personalities.
100km journey on foot (supposedly).
5 days "roughing-it-out" in the world.
Maybe a not so intriguing storyline, but it was a nice and there are parts where you can relate to their antics - eventhough you could be of a different background or gender. Heh.
So, if you guys have the chance, do catch "Goodbye Boys" on VCD at your nearest licensed VCD distributor today. (Piracy is not encouraged on this site. Tee-hee! ;p)
