Rat race

Crap this sucks!
I have been in the CC for about an hour and what have I accomplished?
Absolutely nothing!

The damn server is freakin slow!
And when I really had some important things to do online too!

So it's been decided that I will be going back to Kuching 3 weeks from yesterday. (Told you it's difficult to disagree with my Mom) That's this 25th.

Briefly, the plan is to get a temp job while finding a decent one.

That plan is supposed to begin today.

I'm going through some potential employer profiles now - at least trying to what with the server acting up today of all days! - and maybe by next week I'll be sending out my applications. To date, I've only sent one CV and there doesn't seem to be any response.

Gosh it's exasperating to know my ex-classmates have landed a job! When I heard about that ENVY was the only word that could describe how I felt.

Crap! Didn't know finding a job could be so..."I-can-do-better-than-you" kind of thing. They didn't rub it in my face but I still felt that in comparison to their already having a job and me still stuck in a rut, I was doing badly. Very.

It's a rat race out there in the world. Sometimes I wish I still had classes to go to and assignments to bitch about. (A friend of mine recently furthered her studies to UUM in Kedah. I envied her so.) When we get one place, there's always some place better where we're expected to go. We go to school, get into Uni, bust our asses trying to get a piece of paper called a diploma or a degree just to deem us "fit-to-survive" in the REAL world and when we do get that, we pull our hairs out and try to get a decent job that'll provide us with a decent sum of cash so we can continue living. Soon after, we're expected to get our own wheels, our own house and our own family. Pretty soon we wake up and realise that it's our kids' turn to go through the whole deal - school, Uni, etc.

That's the life cycle for you. It's been a rat race since the day we were born! Guess it took me 23 years of my life to realise that.

Hopefully things will get better. Hopefully when I return to Kuching, there will already be some sort of interview waiting for me.

Sigh. I hate rats.

I don't like rats either. I'm still working on the finishing-uni thing, but I'm in no rush :)
